AiB Team - Robert Todd and Theri Andino Hand Analysis

North passes and so does East (though opening 3 is not unreasonable), so South gets to open 1. West overcalls 1 and so North doubles to show exactly 4-card . East passes again and South rebids 1NT. West doesn't want to pass but can't rebid these , so he could double. North passes, and now East might want to bid 2. West is likely to have 4-5 in the Majors and either 3-1 or 2-2 in the minors. With good spots, balancing with 2 non-vulnerable is reasonable.
Play is pretty straight forward. 2, 1, 1, and 1 loser with the finesse working.

East and South are passes, but West opens 1 in the 3rd seat. North quietly lets that go, and East responds with 1. South also lets that go, and so it comes down to West's rebid. With a passed-hand partner, it's not unreasonable to pass 1 with this minimum opening hand. Now, however, North probably balances with 1NT. South will pass this bid and probably play there.
1NT has good play. When the two red finesses work, North has to guess the . Leading a towards the Q gets East to pop up with the King, and declarer can later cash the Q and lead a to the T - 3, 2, and 2 for 7 winners.

South has a tricky hand, but with all those questionably-valued Qs and Js, it's probably best to put maximum pressure on the opponents and preempt 3 (though 1 is very reasonable.) West can still overcall 3, and North passes, hoping his Aces are worth some defense. East isn't wild about , but he also has nowhere better to offer really, so he passes, and that's that.
It's a good stop, as even with cards placed pretty optimally, declarer has losers in and , and then has to deal with all those small and only 2 trump in dummy and a 4-2 trump split, for another 2 losers.

West and North pass and East opens 1NT. South's too flat to bid, West doesn't have enough values to respond, and North's too flat to bid, so here we are.
It turns out that this is the wrong direction playing NT, but it might be hard for NS to find all their tricks on defense. A likely lead from South is helpful to declarer as he can then go after , but the defense should still be able to hold him to 1, 2 (holding up 2 rounds), 1, and 1 as transportation just does not work out for declarer.

North opens 1 and East overcalls 1. South may stretch to bid 1NT and West keeps quiet. North can probably tell that South has some waste in , but his hand and his suit are good enough that he doesn't really care, and he may jump to 4. That makes for an interesting decision for East - if he can believe that South really has a stopper for 1NT, he knows he's getting a bad break, but the colors are right for a potential sacrifice, so he might just trot out 4. If he does, South can double.
It's a good sacrifice as North would have only lost 3 tricks (1 and 2 or some ruffs), and here in 4X, East loses 2, 2, and 2 but isn't vulnerable, so only -300.

East passes - too good to preempt with 2 Aces, so he can sit and wait - and so South opens 1 (or maybe even 1NT.) West passes and North responds 1 to 1. Now East can pipe up with 1 (or even 2). South has an easy bid 2 over 1, but may have to be a little more careful about bidding 3 over 2 - but he probably would anyways. West can't support and passes, and so North corrects to 2 (or 3), and however high East has pushed already looks like the end.
So let's say East did go ahead with pushing NS up to 3. West has a pretty clear lead of the K, and so even though West always has 2 natural trump tricks, he can also keep declarer from getting a pitch on the Q. Declarer loses 2, 1, and 2 to go down 1 (or to make 2 - all the more reason East should push!)

South passes and West opens 1. North passes and East starts with 1. West rebids 2NT to show his values, and now East should start having some pretty big dreams for this hand. To set up a forcing auction, he starts with whatever flavor of New Minor Forcing they play here, and when West shows his suit (and only 2-card support), East can rebid 3 to show his extra length and try to get partner to make some cuebids. West, however, should recognize that he has all the cuebiddable things and still partner is slam shopping, so he can go ahead with 4NT. East shows his 1 Keycard with the Q, and that's probably enough for West to go to 6. (If not, East may eventually push for it himself.)
Making 6 is difficult. There are 7, 1, 2, and 1 winner - 11 total. Using the suit can produce a 12th winner. Declarer plays a to the 8. If South doesn't split, then North must win the Q and the 7 will set up as a winner later. If South does split, declarer wins the Ace, returns to hand, and leads another , and South is in the same position. If he plays low, the J will fall and the 7 will set up. If South plays his other honor, West wins and now can take a ruffing finesse through North's Q. This is an unlikely play to find unless South leads the J, making it much easier for declarer to read the position.

West opens 2NT, and so even if North interjects with his , East will just put this in game with 4 (through a transfer as needed.)
Declarer loses those 2 tricks right off the bat, but the rest is good.
